KravaraChat is a messaging application for ME-OS. It functions as a way to communicate in MultiME lobbies.

Features

KravaraChat is always loaded with the taskbar software, and is usable even when offline, but is only useful when in a lobby with other players. The server owner's name will always appear in bold text, but anyone can select the color of their name by clicking the settings cog at the top right of the chat window. Messages can either be sent from the taskbar's text window, or by opening the chat window and typing there.

Rich text formatting is available in KravaraChat, meaning you can combine different text attributes such as bolding, italicizing, coloring, and more. Emoticons are also available, and can be either typed out, or inserted by clicking the smiley icon near the text box to open the emoticon picker.

Here is a guide to rich text formatting in KravaraChat:

Attribute Explanation Example
Bold Make text bolder/easier to read <b>test</b> (this will print test)
Color Color the text with a specified hex color code <color=#22bbcc>test</color> (this will print a teal colored test)
Emote Used to display a small image out of available emotes, by surrounding the emote name with a colon :qhappy: (prints the qhappy emote)
Italicize Italicize/slant text <i>test</i> (this will print test)
Size Make text bigger or smaller <size 50>test</size> (this will make the text appear much bigger than usual)

History

A chat feature was planned for ME-OS multiplayer for a very long time. However, it wasn't properly implemented until version 0.0.57, where players could communicate with each other and use emoticons and rich text formatting. When making the UI overhaul for 0.0.58, a chat settings feature was added, which allowed the user to change the color of their name (previously only achievable through the terminal). The chat window also got the feature to be able to be dragged around, and got a much more appealing look compared to the very simple one it had before.
